Created by Unity Gallery, Piece of History (POH) is an NFT collection designed to capture and preserve key moments from each day of the year.
Each piece in the collection represents a pivotal event, encapsulating a snapshot of global history across various categories such as politics, health, sports, and societal events. With each NFT styled as a newspaper front page, the concept blends concise reporting with striking visuals—offering collectors a unique way to own a piece of history. Through digital art and blockchain technology, POH bridges the gap between history and the future, creating a lasting, accessible archive of moments that shaped our world—and now, you can own a piece of it.

The 2023 POH collection is hosted on Stargaze, a decentralized NFT marketplace within the COSMOS ecosystem. With a total of 365 limited-edition NFTs, each representing a key moment from 2023, the collection serves as a rare and highly collectible historical record in the form of digital art.

In addition to the main collection on Stargaze, Piece of History has launched a special edition of 16 exclusive NFTs selected from the main 2023 collection. This curated series highlights some of the most impactful events of 2023 and is exhibited in the Building 1 of The Lab of Unity Gallery. This special edition will be burned after the exhibition.

The creation of the “Piece of History” collection begins with careful research and curation. For each day of the year, top global news stories are selected, focusing on a wide range of categories—from political shifts to cultural breakthroughs, natural disasters, and sports highlights. Headlines, subheadlines, and concise reports are crafted by our team to capture the essence of these events, presenting a snapshot of how the world evolved over the course of the year.

For the visual component, the collection draws on two main sources:

• AI-Generated Images: These are custom-created to match the tone and content of the news, providing each NFT with a distinctive and original visual representation.
• Public Domain Images: When applicable, photos from public domain sources are used, especially when the events have widely recognized imagery. This ensures authenticity and legality in the visual content.

The NFT images are either AI-generated or sourced from the public domain, which ensures no copyright issues. All content is either original (created through AI tools without replicating existing works) or freely available for public use. This approach guarantees that the collection can be integrated smoothly into the blockchain space without infringing on intellectual property rights, maintaining full compliance with legal requirements.
By combining technology, art, and history, Piece of History offers a new medium for preserving the most memorable events of the world, available both as digital collectibles and immersive gallery experiences.
